Private schools are also available. Additionally, we have Coconino County Community College and Flagstaff Community Schools featuring evening adult education. ENTERTAINMENT AND RECREATION Flagstaff is the home of the Arizona Snowbowl which provides skiing facilities only 30 minutes from down town. Cross-country skiing is available in many areas and in years of high snowfall excellent conditions may be experienced. Hunting and fishing activities are enjoyed by many Flagstaff residents as are all outdoor sports, including bicycling and boating. Northern Arizona University provides opportunities to enjoy many university related sporting events. The Flagstaff Symphony, Theatrikos, and Summer Festival of the Arts provide many cultural events. NAU also has theater and music events for the public. The Museum of Northern Arizona provides year-round education and information of the history of the Colorado Plateau. Summer activities also include Horse Racing, Coconino County Fair, Festival in the Pines, Pine Country Pro Rodeo, and many other activities for all ages. WEATHER At an altitude of 7,000 feet, Flagstaff experiences all four seasons. However, our most common weather occurrence is sunshine. No matter what month it is, a sunny day is more likely than any other weather condition. Although it does snow in the winter, the storms tend to move in and out rapidly. The summer is marvelous with warm days, occasional "monsoon" rain showers and mild nights. Spring and fall tend to be unpredictable and you should keep your snow skis and golf clubs handy just in case.
